THE EVINCO Team
"I found CrossFit on my own personal pursuit to get off high blood pressure and cholesterol medication, 7 years ago at the age of 39. Once my father passed away at an early age due to heart disease I had to find an answer. Helping people achieve freedom from heart disease through nutrition and exercise is my passion."
Shawn is a Santa Maria Valley native who attended Bonita Elementary and Santa Maria High School where he competed in Cross Country and Track.
After high school Shawn joined the United States Marine Corps where he came to value physical fitness as essential to mission readiness. The Marines also installed in Shawn what is called "esprit de corps" which is defined as "the intangible spirit that lifts men above themselves for the good of the group." Shawn identified in CrossFit those qualities which he learned in the Corps, being physically and mentally ready for any task the mission requires and a selfless desire to help the group succeed. He brings these qualities to each and every class he coaches.
After the Marines Shawn attended San Diego State University where he double majored in Political Science and Philosophy. Upon graduating from San Diego State, Shawn attended the John Marshall Law School where he received a Juris Doctor in Law.
Shawn found CrossFit in August of 2009 and quickly became obsessed. He obtained his Crossfit Level 1 in 2011 and coached for CrossFit Five Cities and Central Coast Crossfit before co-founding CrossFit Evinco in July of 2015. In 2016 Shawn obtained his CrossFit Level 2 certification. He has also kept his USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Certification current since 2014. Shawn attended the CrossFit Weightlifting Trainer course under Mike Burgener a Level 5 senior International Weightlifting Coach.
"One of my favorite experiences with CrossFit is that I has been able to workout throughout two pregnancies. I have found a passion in helping others, young and old, in-shape and just getting started, pregnant women and mothers of grown children. In the end I love helping people find their way and reach their goals."
Alexandra was raised in Modesto, Ca and later graduated from California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. While in high school she played a variety of sports but primarily focused on Volleyball, Basketball, and Soccer. Alexandra might not have been the most skilled athlete but her mental fortitude, desire to succeed, and work ethic always allowed her to prevail. After graduating from CSUF she moved to Santa Maria for a job and after only two months of living on the coast she found herself completely in love with CrossFit. CrossFit gave Alexandra an outlet to expel her adrenaline and continue improving on a daily basis. One of Alexandra's favorite experiences with CrossFit is that she has been able to workout throughout two pregnancies. She has found a passion in helping others, young and old, in-shape and just getting started, pregnant women and mothers of grown children. In the end Alexandra loves helping people find their way and reach their goals.
"Through SEALFIT I have learned what true mental toughness is and that humans are capable of much more than they think they are. I incorporate this philosophy into my coaching whenever possible."
Brandon grew up in Hawaii where he was very active outdoors with boogie boarding, skateboarding and hiking the mountains. Though Brandon never participated in organized sports in high school, once he got to college he studied martial arts and eventually earned a second degree black belt in kenpo.
Upon moving to the central coast Brandon looked for a martial arts school, and that’s when he stumbled across CrossFit. He began Crossfit working out in his garage and eventually found his way to Crossfit Evinco where he has been a CFL1 coach since 2013. Perhaps the most life-changing event I have undertaken since beginning CrossFit was the one week SEALFIT academy and 50 hour kokoro camp (class 27). Since completing kokoro, Brandon has returned to intern at kokoro camps twice. Brandon feels that it has been a great experience coaching others and learning, how people move, what motivates each person and helping others become the best version of themselves they can be. Currently, in addition to working out, Brandon enjoys running in Spartan races and other mud runs.
"Evinco is home. This gym is where I have grown as an athlete and discovered my passion for coaching The community is unlike any other. We aren’t just workout buddies, gym rats or friends, we are FAMILY. This gym will welcome anyone and everyone who is ready to work toward their goals. I love this place!"
Who is Kirk:
He is a very social and outgoing individual who would much rather hang out at the gym with friends lifting, mobilizing, or having a beer talking about LIFE. Kirk has been a crossfitter for 3.5 years and L1 Coach for 2.
Kirk grew up playing sports, mainly soccer, football and track and field. During his sophomore year of college he went out for a semester of football, but discovered that lifting was where his interests lay. He learned about CrossFit from a friend, but wasn’t able to try it till after college. Once he tried it, he was hooked and has been ever since.
What Kirk brings to the Table:
Kirk is a friendly, social and outgoing individual who is passionate about what he does and how he performs. Kirk gets an adrenaline rush from watching athletes succeed. It is especially rewarding when it is something that they have been working toward for a long time, or when they don’t think they can do it but end up surprising themselves. He has a passion for the gymnastic movements, and you can usually find Kirk walking around the gym on his hands!

"Fitness and healthcare are so closely related that it just makes sense for me to continue my passion for health and wellness into CrossFit. Aspects, such as; cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, flexibility and strength are my favorite implementations of CrossFit into overall fitness."
As a nurse, wellness and health are Daisy's passions in life. She is devoted to educating people about their bodies and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Daisy loves sharing my knowledge about human physiology and how it impacts our daily lives.
Daisy has always been active, with an extensive background in competitive cheerleading, competitive Regional Stunting, and coaching All Star cheer growing up. She was a bodypump fan until discovering the greatness of CrossFit.
Daisy fell in love with CrossFit because of its mobility, encouragement in female strength and its adaptations of Olympic weightlifting. But most of all, She loves CrossFit because of its community which has encouraged her to be strong not only physically but mentally. One doesn't know how strong you are until you have no other option, because of this, I lifted my way back to confidence!
